jwandfriends2A Variety show with: Johan Wellton, Mattias Jönsson, Erik Nilson, Petter Berndalen, Daniel Antonssen, Henrik Agger, Louise Bjurholm, Charlie Caper, Tobias Törnell, Patrik Elmnert, Annelie Holmberg och Andreas Lindström.
Length: 1 hour and 30 minutes – Idea and direction: Johan Wellton and the group – Played 2006 at Gävle teater

”Johan Wellton & Friends is truly 90 minutes of entertainment, so varied that there is not one dull minute. The main artist is the link between the acts, with a non language that makes me think of Charlie Chaplin. As he brings out his stuff from his worn suitcase ha also underlines his excellence as a juggler. Impeccable precision. And his debut as a director makes me want more.”
-Gefle Dagblad

A comedy act created 2011 in cooperation with Wallmans OSLO for the dinnershow WOW!
Length: 10 minutes – Idea and creation: Johan Wellton – Premiere: 2011

100 tricks in one minute is a development from Johan’s “Catastrophe act” he created for his Variety production Variety Royale 2008. In “100 tricks” everything goes wrong and ends in total mayhem.

This version of the act was created with quite a noisy dinner show audience in mind. Johan is now reworking it for theaters, with a more subtle approach.

A soloshow production created and performed by Johan Wellton
Length: 1 hour 15 minutes – Direction: Morgan Alling – Premiere: 2002

Johan freights himself and his show in a large cargo box, always ready to kick start the Grand Circus Show. But this very evening something goes wrong… Against all odds the show takes form and finally breaks out in a spectacular gala show.Only different. Johan Wellton juggles at world class level and moves between impossibilities with ease, and with a charm that only can be found in a true street performer.

Street show, Circus artistry and theatre effects: The best of three worlds creates an experience without borders and makes FRAKTGODS a soloshow in the bigger format.

”FRAKTGODS IS BLASTING THE BORDERS: Yes, Johan Wellton is blasting the boundaries until the boards are creaking. His show “Fraktgods” is a peculiar mixture of street smartness  and immediate audience contact on one hand, and a very special poetic tone on the other.  It is classic circus artistry on one side and modern body language on the other.”

This is Johan Welltons most advanced and lavish production ever. With special effects, natural phenomenon and the art of engineering he shoots out for a new and unexplored adventure. All inventiveness and experimental curiosity becomes the framework for a story about our dreams, hope and despair. How far are we willing to go to become loved? To understand ourselves? To find context and a meaning in life?

See one of the world’s best jugglers in what may be one of the most advanced and complex shows about something as simple as life itself.

“I want to tell the story about giving a whole life to create a 10 minute long act. What drives a person to such a thing? I want to crash my feel of pure entertainment with a raw, true story from the core of my humanity. And then set the whole thing on  fire.”

Take all you’ve spent your life to achieve in one hand. Then take a big sledge hammer in the other and SET YOURSELF FREE. Nothing is static. Everything is movement. Crush your fine porcelain and crawl out of your shell. We swing. Everything swings. Live life. LET GO.

A soloshow for festivals, theaters, galashows and… anywhere really.
Length: Flexible from 20 to 70 minutes. – Idea/creation: Johan Wellton – Premiere: 2005

A dynamic and personal show where Johan Wellton takes centre stage with a mixture of high voltage circus skills and witty comedy, all delivered with a twinkle in his eye. A steamroller show that gets straight to the point leaving the audience grasping for air and their jaws on the floor – Over and over again!

One of the acts that is also part of UNPLUGGED is Johan’s original act BOUNCE. Click here to see video etc.

Here are a few reviews and comments from the audience:

”The first part was characterized by Johan’s comedy and extremely funny stage-language. He captivated the audience with his acting talent and clever juggling. So astonishing were some of the acts that they left the audience gob-smacked and you could tell he had them in the palm of his hand by the continuous thundering applause!”
– Sundsvalls tidning

“Thank you for a wonderful performance. I almost felt like I was being brought back to the breathtaking theatre experiences of the childhood. Many times I wasn’t breathing at all, sometimes I was laughing out loud and sometimes I wanted to help you by screaming watch out! Overwhelmed to say the least.”
– Christina Friström, arrangör Örkelljunga

“Saw Johan in Sundsvall this weekend! So goddamn funny stage charachter! Haven’t laughed this much for 4-5 years!”
– Bobbo Jäderfeldt

“You made such a success at Haparandas square and we are sooo proud to have had you all the way up North to us!”
– Kristin Tossavainen

“What a show you gave us inUmeå. Charming, with a striking message and an awesome ball control. I think that art and especially art through theatre/meeting/dialogue/show is really something. Not everyone have your capability to present it in such a relaxed, effortless way that is still affecting. You really succeed in this. To contribute to laughter, contemplation and awaken curiosity and emotions of others is an art in itself. A mixture of humor, seriousness and skill – charmingly packaged! You really succeeded in catching the audience on all levels. A really successful performance.
– Ulrika Rigel

“Hello Johan! I just saw your show in Sundsvall. An amazingly great show! I wanted to say hi after but didn’t dare to. I am a juggler and have been juggling since 10 years. When I started 2008 you were (and still are) one of my biggest inspirations. The juggling has shaped my life in a really positive way and I have had the chance to meet so many great people and visit unexpected places. I just want to say thank you for being inspiring and for doing what you do. I hope I will dare to say hi next time.”
– Filip borglund

“Then like now, with a fantastic ability to adapt to both situation and circumstance. To keep an audience hypnotized for 60 minutes with the only means of some clubs, little balls and confetti requires its man. A simple concept allows the artist to lean back and trust his own ability and in Wellton’s case it is remarkable – some of his juggling acts seem to dissolve the laws of physics. Between raving roars many in the audience is laughing themselves short of breath. Here is an experience that gives more than 10 sessions of therapy.”
– Lasse Stenman, Haparandabladet

The performers are not an ensemble – this is Sweden’s most charismatic individualists that all presents their very own impossible feats. It is grandiose, wild and yet intimate.

“The premiere audience at he irresistebly beautiful Gävle teater was at times close to vaporized from laughter and dazzlement”

“The fear that a Variety in Johan Wellton’s direction would only mean new circus and a few jokes is immediately out of question.”
– AB

“Johan Wellton, John Houdi, Jan Unestam, Marilen Ribot och Henna Kaikula all has top quality. And when Wellton juggles 7 balls standing, sitting, while blindfolded and finally juggles into his suitcase. Well yes, that’s when the artistry reaches absolute world class and the highest of qualities”
– GD

This is the little sister of Johan Wellton’s big show GLITCH. Slimmed down and slightly shortened to fit smaller theaters and stages. Same story, but without the heaviest technicalities.

What happens when we let go of the control and step out of our comfort zone? When we dare to say hello to the downhill and use it to gain power to get back up in the roller coaster of life?

The Swedish New Circus phenomenon Johan Wellton takes a dive into all this with his intense experiment ON THE LOOSE, where he takes us to a place only a few choose to go but where those who do come back richer in experience.

It is an evening of existential thoughts and impressive artistry all mixed together into a well shaken molotov cocktail.

ON THE LOOSE has sprung out of a three year collaboration between Stephen Rappaport and Johan Wellton making the performance GLITCH.
